This is where I get to tell you a little of what I do. I make my own RPG's you see, maybe someday I'll be able to make my own business out of it like fasa. But until then, I'll have to settle for letting you have them on-line. (What a shame huh?) So, now we're going to explain the basic system behind all of the games that I make. I call it the Fantasy system because all of the games I make are Fantasy rpg games so, it makes sense, but using this system, you could make an rpg about whatever you want. All of the games I have are fantasy games that take place in different time periods in history. Since different time periods in history had different people who behaved in different ways, and since those different people in those different time periods had many different beliefs on many different subjects, then it makes sense to say that as magic entered and exited our world through history that these different people would have had many different interpretations as to how to control magic. For instance, In the days of the Wild West, people would've used magic to help shoot their weapons and to fight boxing style, or to use Karate, however, this depends on what part of the world your character exists in during this time in history because a person in America during the 1800's wouldn't have known anything about Karate while a person living in Japan during the 1800's would've known nothing about Boxing. So, obviously there are many different interpretations of how to use magic, these different interpretations simply didn't change overnight though. No, they changed slowly over time. However, they didn't change enough to be considered a completely different style of magic until very specific points in history, and in between those points of history there was such a gap in time without magic that by the time it reappears people have forgotten all about it and have to spend alot of time relearning it. So, for instance, at the beginning of the times of the Wild West, (which was actually only a period of five years from 1845a.d. to 1850a.d.) (however, for the purposes of this game we'll say they lasted from the year 1785a.d. to 1901a.d.) a character you played would have to learn how to use magic. However, a character born and grown up in the middle of the Time of the Wild West would not, he would already know how to use it, because it would've been taught to him since the day he was born. Now, because of the different interpretations of magic that occurred at different points in history, it makes sense to say that in order to make a game out of each, you would need to have a slightly different system of rules that would represent these changes. Thus, with my game, "Fantasy", I have a slightly different set of rules for each major time period in History in which Magic has once again made it's entrance. The first game that I have is known as " Egyptian Fantasy" because it takes place in Egyptian times. This is not to say that the Egyptians were the only civilization that existed, there were the Hebrews the Jews and the Gentiles and many other civilizations that existed. However, the reason why we refer to these times as the Egyptian times in the first place is because the Egyptians were the most highly advanced civilization during that point in history in which they existed. As a result of their being so highly advanced they were the first civilization to learn of magic once it re-entered the world, they were the first to interpret magic as a power which exists in the form of gods who can lend you their powers, which just so happened to be around the same time that they first were gaining their power. The same is true for the other game titles that I have. Many of them are named after the most powerful and well-known civilization of that time who were the first people to learn magic as a result of their advancements. If the game isn't named after one civilization then this means when magic chose to re-enter the world that there was more than one civilization that was advanced enough to learn about it. The second game in my series is called "Roman Fantasy", this is a game in which Magic has again made it's entrance into the world just as in all of the others, once again magic is interpreted by the Romans as a bunch of different gods that have the ability to lend you their powers. However, the Romans chose to represent the powers through different Gods than the Egyptians. In fact, the people who believed in the Gods who actually were alloted power for it called their Gods true-Gods because of the fact that people who believed in some Gods did not recieve power for it, so their Gods were known as Idols. The reason why the word idol was chosen is because in Latin, which is the language the Romans spoke, idol means worthless, of little value, and also immobile, thus these fake Gods that they worshiped were all of these things. Now, although, origanally there were no Gods, eventually, these Gods that were considered True Gods were created by magic itself. This started, of course, back in the Egyptian times when Gods that gave power were first thought of. People would worship these Gods and would have great faith in them. Some would worship major Gods such as Vena, the God of lightning, or Rama the God of the Sun. Worshiping Gods that represented such magical entities, and the faith that the people had in the existance in such Gods caused magic itself to create these Gods. The reason why magic created these Gods is because they were, indeed, magical entities that existed in the world of magic, however, magic itself had to tell them what to do, where to go, and basically take the place of their brains. So magic took them and made them higher entities, gave them the ability to think, to breathe and to move, now magic didn't have to work so hard to fulfill the wishes of the people who worshiped all of the different forms of himself, the different entities that he had previously had to control. As the years went on different civilizations gave these Gods different names, and thus the powers that the same God controlled might change slightly, but would, in essence, be the same powers. However, eventually, there came a civilization that gained magic, but magic itself, was held back by some unknown force, this force became known as Mana, and thus Mana became the entity which allows people to perform magic. However, Mana, did not do as Magic had done. He did not make different forms of himself in order to perform the many tasks that people required of him, so he became weaker. Performing so many duties tired him out. In fact, it eventually tired him so that he could no longer exist in the physical plane any longer, he had to return to the astral plane once again. However, after a long rest in the Astral plane, he then battled against magic for the right to enter the physical plane once again. Once the battle was over, Mana had won once again, and so Mana entered the world. However, Mana still had not learned from his previous time in the physical plane, being from the astral plane, he did not understand that things in the physical world could run out of energy. So he made no entities to perform his tasks as magic had done and he ran out of energy very quickly. However, this time, Magic, being the smarter entity of the two, Mana and Magic, did learn from his mistakes. This time he did not give Mana any time to rest in the astral plane before he attacked him. He was so weakened that he could barely even fight back and thus, lost miserably. He was now pushed into a realm that would be very difficult, even for an entity such as himself to return from. He was pushed into the Netherworld, the land of the dead. Because of this Magic has been the prevalent force thus far. Mana did however enter the world once more, before Magic entered the world for the final time in the year 2600. Mana came back into the world in the year 500a.d. and left the world for his final time in the year 1200a.d. This period of time between those years was known as the Middle Ages. It began during the Dark Ages, and ended during the Renaisance. Mana during his time in the netherworld realized that beings that exist in the physical plane lose energy very quickly, unlike beings in the Astral plane which never run out of energy. So he realized that he would also have to create some entities and endow them with certain parts of his power just as Magic had done. However, instead of creating Gods, he created what became known as Elementals,(a.k.a. Magical spirits). These "Elementals" each controlled one of the Elements of the way the world works. The reason he created the entities this way was so that the entities he created wouldn't have to keep changing in names and powers over time. Obviously, things such as Lightning, Fire, Earth, Wind, etc. will always exist on Earth, in some form or another, even if Magic takes control over Mana again. So obviously doing things this way makes alot of sense. As a result, at this point in history, of Mana being in control instead of Magic, plus with the creation of the Elementals, this brought about a few awkward changes in the world that are stereotypical of what people think of when they think of the Middle Ages. All of the sudden new creatures appeared on the Earth, such as Pegasus', Unicorns, Dragons, Lych's, Owlbears, Yeti, Bigfoot (no Bigfoot and Yeti are not the same thing, Yeti live in the cold northern Mountains while the Bigfoot lives in the Moderate, Midwestern forests) and of course the Elementals. Now many other animals existed as well, however, the list given above is merely an example to get your mind thinking in the right direction of what creatures existed. Just to let you know I call this game "Midievil Fantasy" because it takes place in the Midievil times. The final game takes place in the future, this is the final time in history in which Magic took the power away from Mana to control the physical plane. This time is in the year 2600a.d. The name of the game is "Futuristic Fantasy". I have certain new types of technology that were created specifically for this game because it takes place in the future. At this point in history man has finally broke the light barrier, or the speed of light. This is indeed a great achivement because it allows man to travel through time. They have now made time machines which are simply machines that are able to go faster than the speed of light. In other words, any machine that can travel faster than the speed of light is a time machine, regardless of what it is normally called. This has obvious advantages. Such as going back and doing that homework assignment that you accidentally forgot about 3 days ago. However, time travel is not without its limitations. If you, go back in time you cannot change anyone else's actions but your own. You also cannot travel to a time in which you didn't exist yet. Finally, although you can change your own past actions, and mistakes, you have to be extremely careful how you do this, because if your past self sees you it will create a time paradox that cannot be resolved and you, thus, will simply cease to exist since this is the only way to resolve such a conflict. In any case, that's all of my games, if you want to read the more detailed explanation of how these games work than go back to the top of this page and click on "The Games". |
